The clever use of screens can frame an area for privacy, like a courtyard but without an attachment to a main building. Retaining walls are a functional way of bending the landscape to your will. Steep grades can be terraced, the flow of rainwater can be channelled and retaining walls can reclaim more flat areas for you to enjoy.
